Saturday Night College Football Preview: #10 Ole Miss vs. #13 LSU and #11 Notre Dame vs. #18 Duke
In today’s early slate of college football, we saw No. 6 Penn State blow out Northwestern 41-13 after they struggled in the first half and also saw No. 22 Florida get upset by unranked Kentucky by a score of 33-14.
We also have a great matchup between No. 24 Kansas and No. 3 Texas taking place today at 3:30 P.M. on ABC.
Tonight’s college football Saturday night slate should deliver some great action and here are the top two matchups.
#13 LSU Tigers at #10 Ole Miss | 6:00 P.M. | LSU -2.5
Since LSU got blown out by Florida State in their first game, they have won each of their last three games. They are currently 2-0 in the SEC this season and are coming off a 34-31 victory against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
LSU QB Jayden Daniels has looked fantastic as of late, throwing for 320 yards and four touchdown passes. The Tigers also had two wide receivers who totaled over 100 yards.
Ole Miss is coming off a tough loss to Alabama on the road last week. Jaxson Dart threw for 244 yards with an interception but didn’t have a touchdown pass in the game. Dart only has one touchdown pass in his last two starts.
If Ole Miss is going to have a chance to win this game, they are going to have to establish the run early in the game. They also need a special game from Dart to have a chance.
LSU’s offense has been electric this year, scoring over 40 points in three of their four games. Daniels is fifth in the country in touchdown passes with 12 while only throwing two interceptions. He also is seventh in the country in passing yards with 1,296.
Prediction: LSU 35, Ole Miss 27
#11 Notre Dame Irish at #18 Duke Blue Devils | 7:30 P.M. | ND -5.5
Notre Dame had a letdown game last week when they lost to Ohio State on a last-second touchdown 17-14.
QB Sam Hartman looked decent but didn’t look like the guy who was a Heisman candidate before last week. Hartman has still thrown 14 touchdowns this season which is good for 3rd in the country. He also has yet to throw an interception this year.
The good news is their defense looked good last week vs. Ohio State as they only gave up 17 points and two touchdowns.
Duke has had an incredible run up until this point but I believe it will come to a stop tonight. The Blue Devils had their signature victory against previously ranked No. 9 Clemson in week one.
Now, we have seen that Clemson is a feisty team but not a top-10 team in the country. I think this will be a close game because Duke’s defense is very good as they haven’t given up more than 14 points in a game this season.
Prediction: Notre Dame 24, Duke 20
